Ex Voto 1972
The boy with the flat cap with his hands up is from a well known photograph of the destruction of the Warsaw Ghetto. It seemed a good idea to bring him into this San Miniato Garden to play with my children.
It was not until 2003 that I learned that he had been saved and was now working as a doctor in New York. His name was, and is, Tsvi Nussbaum and I painted him again in 'Victims' in 2003.
